2013 sculpture project now offers artists $6,000
WHAT: 2013 Bernice Garden Sculpture Project Call for Entries
WHEN: Deadline for Entry: 5 p.m., Monday, April 15, 2013
WHERE: The Bernice Garden, 1401 S. Main (Daisy Gatson Bates and South Main) Little Rock, AR 72201
Two weeks remain for Arkansas sculptors and artists to enter The Bernice Garden 2013 Sculpture Project of outdoor art, and thanks to the generosity and patronage of Robyn and John Horn of Little Rock, artists chosen will be awarded $6,000 – or double the cash award of the first three years of competition.
Five or fewer submissions will be chosen; completed works will be displayed for a year in the garden at 1401 South Main, in the continually revitalized SoMa district. The call for entries is open until 5 p.m. Monday, April 15.
Open only to artists/teams residing in Arkansas, the project welcomes submissions for sculptures of any or multiple disciplines and media. Each artist/team will be considered for one work; multiple submissions are not allowed. Reflecting the spirit, nature or history of Arkansas is a must to be chosen; a sense of whimsy is a plus.
Each artist/team selected will be given a $5,800 sculpture budget, plus $200 for development of a model of the proposal due by June 1. Completed artworks will be installed in the garden in September. The $5,800 must include all other design fees, materials, construction, installation, removal, maintenance and liability insurance. The artist/teams retain ownership of the artwork.
